Pre-moving moving

Tomorrow is the first official day of moving in! Caleb is loading up the trailor as I type and we're making our way down to Cleveland tomorrow morning. Even though Caleb and I have been so stressed out and dealing with a ton of issues these past few days, I'm still very excited. All of the drama will be worth on January 1st.

I'm going to make a running list of things that I need to buy in the next month. I hope we don't get down there and realize we have no forks or something silly like that. :)

We LOVE the Colts

Ok, I just have to put this up. My mom has always loved the Colts, so I come from a Colt loving household. It's in my blood or something. I love the Colts, Caleb loves the Colts, and when we have babies, they will love the Colts and it will be in their blood (or something like that). Anyway, Peyton is the stuff. And they just played an awesome game against the Patriots. 35-34 and it was a glorious win. That makes them 9-0 for the season. Amazing.

Ok, I'm done now.

We're homesick already!

Caleb and I were feeling a little home sick for our little apartment, so we made a quick visit today. It was such a nice day for a drive and we really needed to take measurements before we started hauling in furniture.

I'm glad we got to spend some quality time in our apartment today. The first time we saw it, was a brief walk through with our land lord, so we didn't get to check out every detail. Well, today we did, and honestly, the clean freak inside of me is FLIPPING OUT.

Now, I know that no one has been living there in a while and it is an older home. But dust freaks me out. Unexplained dirt in random places freaks me out. Strange smells coming from the closets freak me out. And I know that I can clean my little heart out and all those things will go away, but until they do, I'm going to freak out a little bit. As the French would say, "C'est ma nature" (I just got done doing French homework, btw)

Caleb swears we did the right thing and that it will be ok. I'm going to trust him for now.

And stock up on cleaning supplies.

As promised, here are the pictures:
Caleb: he is so cute.
Taking measurement...doing manly things
In my kitchen!

This is me worrying about all the cleaning I need to do. Not cute.

Sorry I chopped off Caleb's head.
In the kitchen.
In the living room
Living room again
The real front of the house
This is our front door aka the back door and the backyard
This is me driving. On Highway 6 between Marks and Clarksdale, we saw a CRAZY nice Rolls Royce and decided it was Morgan Freeman on his way home from church.

From Caleb

Caleb here.

Nicole and I visited our little apartment today (She'll be posting some pictures a little later). I'm still excited. :) But Nicole doesn't exactly share my excitement. Yea the place isn't perfect. It's a little old and dusty, but I think it's going to be great. It just needs a little love and a lot of cleaning.

We found this neat application on some furniture website where you can lay out your rooms so we did that and got it all worked out. We discovered that our queen sized bed is going to take up most of our little bed room. Ha. But that's okay. We'll make do.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving break. Our professors decided to weigh us down before we get out to make up for the whole week of class we'll be missing I guess. Only four more weeks, including Thanksgiving and finals, until we are out of school. Then we just have to worry about moving to Cleveland.

Until next time.

A little more from Nicole

Mini update:

I love my mom. She has started buying/rounding up all kinds of kitchen supplies for us. Today she bought us...

Towels, a Can Opener, Spoons, Measuring Cups, Big Mixing Bowls, Silverware Holder, Hot Pads, a Cutting Board, Spatulas, Tongs, Strainer, and "a few other things"

Agian, my mom is wonderful. And appearently she has a lot of faith in my cooking skills. :)

I also wanted to share some recipe links that I have been drooling over the past few days. I cannot wait to cook. I'm telling you, I'm going to be amazing by this time next year.
  • http://www.kayotic.nl/blog/?p=3708- Ok, this has all of my favorite things wrapped together. Chicken, bacon, cream cheese...how can that be bad? It can't. I think instead of using onion, I'll use mushrooms or spinach (or both). Because they are my favorites.

Blogging, Moving, Thinking

Caleb here.

I guess I can't really say this is my first blog. I used to blog on xanga occasionally, but I gave that up years ago. Anyway, my wonderful girlfriend Nicole started this blog so we can tell the world about our fascinating lives. I'm being sarcastic, but I'm excited about beginning a blog. Sometimes I have things to say, but I don't have anywhere to say them. Finally I have a place to pour out my mind. Currently my mind is occupied with our move to Cleveland, Mississippi from Oxford, Mississippi. I was just thinking about how Nicole and I are moving to one of the poorest spots in Mississippi, which happens to be the poorest state in the nation, and just how privileged we are to live in a country where we will be quite comfortable, even as poor college students living off the government, in the poorest region in the poorest state in the U.S. Just something to think on. Apart from that, I'm just trying to get through one more semester at Ole Miss so we can transfer to Delta State and move into our first apartment together in January. So excited. So much to do though. Also, I'm looking fward to Thanksgiving, seeing family, and eating way too much. I'm getting tired so I'll sign off now.

Until next time.

The first blog

So, this is the first blog. I'm starting to blog to chronicle our first apartment and all the fun, mishaps, and love that will happen in it. Caleb and I have been together a little over a year and half and will be making a big switch soon.

We are transferring to Delta State University (Go Fighting Okra!) and moving into a old, shabby apartment together. It's not much, but we are so excited for all the new adventures we are going to have. I can't wait to spend the next few years of my life with Caleb in the Delta.

For those of you who haven't been to the MS Delta, it is unlike any other place. Yes, it's very flat. Yes, there is more farmland than you could have ever imagined. And worst of all, in the summer, there are TONS of mosquitos. But, it has a charm, history and culture all to its own and I'm starting to fall in love with it already.

As for the apartment, it's not much to brag about. One bedroom, one bath triplex. On the plus side, it is only 6 blocks from campus and walking distance to the square in Cleveland. It has an awesomely big kitchen (which I WILL learn to cook in, even if it kills me) and we are allowed to have pets...which means my little home will soon have a new kitten. It needs some TLC, but hey, it's our first place. Isn't it supposed to be a little rough?

Caleb and I are so blessed to have such wonderful and giving families. Between them we have a couch, a bed, a kitchen table, real plates and silverware, lamps, end tables and the list keeps growing. Since we are so broke, all of these things are especially appreciated. Hopefully with Christmas and birthday's coming up soon, Caleb and I won't have to buy too many things for our new home.

I did buy Caleb a gift today. He is crazy and only likes to drink out of glasses, so I bought him a set. He really liked them and we got 16 for crazy cheap.

Next on our list to buy: Pots and pans so I can cook up a storm! I've already started to hunt for and save some of my favorite recipies. I can't wait to cook for my man...wonder how long that feeling will last?

We are planning on starting to move some stuff in over Thanksgiving so it'll be an easier final move in January . I'll make sure to have my camera intow. January 1st cannot get here soon enough!
