Back to school

Well school didn't wait for a while to get hectic. It pretty much was from day one and hasn't let up any since. Classes have been in for three weeks now and I have already had papers and I am taking my first test tomorrow!

This semester I am taking
1. Advanced French (so hard)
2. Contemporary French Literary Theory (so so so hard)
3. Intro to Secondary Teaching
4. Young Adult Literature
5. Philosophy (not hard but confusing)

I am still working 4 days a week at Fred's and taking all of my classes PLUS doing 30 hours of in-school observations. Needless to say, I wake up at 6:30amvery morning and I don't get a chance to chill out until about 6:30pm. It's stressful but I like being busy and being productive.

I'm excited for my 30 hours of observations this semester in Intro to Teaching. I get to go out into a local school and watch real teachers in real classrooms. I am assigned to DM Smith Middle School in Cleveland for my first 15 hours. DM Smith is on the OTHER side of the railroad tracks here in Cleveland, so it will be a good example of what to expect in the rest of the Delta. My class is 6th grade reading. I went for my first day on Monday and was slightly overwhelmed. It was the first time I had been in a middle school since I was in Ridgeway so I didn't really know what to expect. It was SO loud because the school is just one huge building with dividers as walls. I could hear every other teacher on the hall's lesson. But the kids were pretty good and eager to do thier work and participate. I'm excited to be going back next week.

Other than work and school, not much going on. For a back to school treat, Caleb and I went to Vicksburg last Saturday and went shopping for a day. :) I got a lot of nice new "teacher" outfits to wear out into the schools.

The kittens have been so bad lately. Everynight, they have knocked over our trash can or gotten on the counter tops. I think they are going through thier kitty "teen" years and being rebellious. I still love them.
