Totally Honest Tuesday

I am starting a new thing here on my blog and I am calling it Totally Honest Tuesday. THT is a chance for me to blow off some steam about what's been bothering me, admit some failures/insecurities, or just keep it real.

I invite you to join in with me...because we all know there are some things we all need to get off our chests.

So, here it goes...

To be totally honest....I really miss my husband since he has started student teaching. I know he is under tons of pressure and is worn out all the time, but I need him. 1 hour each day (if I am lucky) is not enough. Lonely wife over here.

TBTH....I have no motivation to do school work as of right now. Like ZERO.

TBTH....While I love having friends over to our house, what I love even more is that people coming over is the best reason to clean my house top to bottom. Without  someone is coming into my house in 5 hours, cleaning just doesn't seem important. But one thing my mom taught me is that when you have company, you clean your little butt off.

TBTH...I had a lot of fun the other night out with my friends without my husband. Girl time is priceless and I forget that sometimes.

TBTH...I really want a baby. I blame my hormones/biological clock.

TBTH...Whoever decided how Blair's (from Gossip Girl...we're on a first name basis) hair should be done for her wedding in tonight's episode needs to be FIRED. It was terrible.

TBTH....Things like Blair's hair make me legit mad.

TBTH...I talk to my dog like she is a person all.the.time. And she understands.

Red Carpet Wrap-Up

Now that Caleb and I have cable again (after two years without it, major sacrifice!!!) I got to watch E!'s coverage of the SAG Awards red carpet last night! O, how I love pretty dresses. So here are some of my favorites...and some of my misses.

Natalie Portman was probably my favorite of the night. This dress is a beautiful color and interesting in a way that doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME! I'M A MOVIE STAR"

Though I usually don't find her particularly attractive (just keeping it real here), Julianna Margulies looked quite lovely. The beading was do die for...though probably quite heavy, so kudos to her.

In my eyes, Emma Stone can do no wrong. Just adorable.

Diana Agron always looks so lady like! I love her style. This dress is just the right amount of sexy (with the low v neck).

And my last favorite is Viola Davis. Girl can clean up!!! And if you watched the show, she had on some body shimmer that made her skin SPARKLE, which she could totally do because she won Best Actress.

Now for the misses...poor ladies.

Ok, Jessica Chastain looks pretty ok. The dress is a nice color, but simple. Her hair is pretty. BUT girlfriend needs some lipstick ASAP. On the show, her lips looked almost blue/purple. So sad because I really like her.

Opposed to her Glee costar, Lea Michele is getting sexy ALL WRONG. I mean, you can pretty much see her whoo-ha. It's just too much.

I actually really, really, really love this dress. If I could go to prom all over again, I would wear this dress. But sadly for Kaley Cuoco, this is not senior prom and she is not 16. It is a beautiful, girly dress...but the SAG awards are not the place for it.

Dear Zoe Saladana, Why are you wearing a wife beater under your pretty white dress?? Love, Nicole

Who let Kristin Wiig out of the car with that necklace on? She looks beautiful if she would take the damn choker off. Again, so sad because she was SOOO close.

Last, is Michelle Williams. The color is great for her, but what you can't see in this picture is the weird 90's inspired asymetrical hem going on. O it makes me cringe.

So what did you guys think about the fashion last night? Agree or disagree with me?

Easy pasta salad!

I am totally obsessed with pasta salad. It is just so versatile...I mean, it goes with ANYTHING! And you can make it however fancy you want....just pasta with some salad dressing is yummy, but you can add so many layers and make it as simple or sophisticated as you want. BEST. SIDE. DISH. EVER.

Tonight, Caleb and I had over one of our best couple friends. We made grilled hot dogs, salad, and the following pasta salad. The pasta salad stole the show. I can't wait to make it again!

Super Easy Parmesan Pasta Salad:
(I am not real big on measuring, so just go with what looks right)

Wagon Wheel Pasta
Frozen Corn
Frozen Green Beans
Real Bacon Bits (or pre-cooked bacon strips torn)
Sour Cream
Lemon Juice
Roasted Garlic
Parmesean Cheese (grated is what we like)
Salt and Pepper

1. Boil the pasta to al dente
2. Blance the corn and greeen beans to tender-crisp (I followed the instructions on the bag and did it in the microwave)
3. Micowave bacon and cut (or tear)  into small pieces
4. Mix 1/4 cup mayo and 1/4 cup sour cream in separate bowl
5. Add 1 tablespoon (or a little more...I did) of lemon juice , 1/2 teaspoon garlic, and a handful or two of parmesean to mayo/s.cream mixture
6. Salt and pepper mixture to taste.
7. Mix everything together in a large serving bowl.
8. Chill in the fridge 30 minutes to 1 hour.

It was super yummy, and despite it being PASTA salad, it was surprisingly light. And I bet the left overs tomorrow will be AMAZING!

So...it's been awhile

Well. I started this blog to document my life with Caleb and a I did a pretty good job at it for all of....what...6 months? I am a blogging failure. However, it has become a recent obsession of mine to voraciously read other people's blogs...so I have decided to rejoin the community. After having a discussion with my dear friend Olivia, who can be found blogging here, I decided that I should re-try my hand at this blogging business.

Because, dammit, my life is important.

I suppose I should start with an (brief) update on life since I left off.

In March 2011, Caleb and I adopted our  spoiled rotten baby, Sadie.

And then in October, the 15th to be exact, Caleb and I got MARRIED...finally...

And we went on a lovely honeymoon to Disney World

And finally in December, we moved into an incredibly nice (for Cleveland, MS and our budget) apartment.

So for now, Caleb is finishing up school (he will be done in MAY!!!) and I'm slowly, but surely making progress toward  my BA in French Education. More to come later, for sure.
